Kaskus is an Indonesian internet forum site which claims itself as the largest Indonesian online community. It ranks as the 8th most popular website in Indonesia^{[weasel words]} and is one of two local sites in the top 10 (detik.com at 9th), positioning at 351st worldwide according to Alexa.com. It was established on November 6, 1999, by three Indonesian students (Andrew Darwis, RS, and BD) in the United States. As of April 22, 2010, Kaskus has more than 1,620,000 registered accounts. In August 2005 and September 2006, PC Magazine Indonesia voted Kaskus as The Best Indonesian communities twice (2005 & 2006).^[1] Registration is required for new users to participate in the community, and every registered member has the privilege to access more than twenty sub-forums on various subjects. The community runs on the vBulletin forum software.

On May 23, 2006, the internet domain has been changed from .com to .us in response to a computer virus called Brontok that attacked the servers.

• KASKUS CORNER, which is a forum where users can update with info like social service, gathering, seminar, promotion, etc. which are held by Kaskus and involves users. The Kaskus Corner has sub-forums such as: Kaskus Celeb, Kaskus Event & Bakti Sosial, Kaskus Promo, Cinta Kaskus, Cinta Indonesiaku.

• CAS-CIS-CUS, which is a forum where users can devolve with the current world issues, or just talk about their own. • LOE-KE-LOE, which is a forum where users can find their suitable community based on their hobbies, lifestyle and the likes. "Loe" has the same meaning as "you" in Indonesian slank language. "Ke" has the same meaning as "to". So Loe-Ke-Loe means "(from) you to you". • FORUM JUAL BELI (FJB), perhaps one of the most active sub-forums in Kaskus

, it is quickly becoming the Indonesian Craigslist where members post pseudonymous ads selling (and looking for) everything from Rp 50,000 (±US$ 5.55) USB flash disks to Rp 15,000,000,000 (± US$ 1,666,666.66) land rights. "Jual" means "sell" and "Beli" means "buy". So "Jual Beli" is the Indonesian word for "Sell & Buy".
